I recently read this book. It was great. What it is, is a paraphrase of the Gospel written by an Australian guy, in the "great outback" vernacular. Matt does say some of these phrases, but many were much more rural or older terms. Still, it was a cultural experience to read. I think my favorite passage was from Matthew, when Mary visits Elizabeth. She says, "good onya Mary, you're God's number one Sheila!"..." when I heard your cooyee at the door, the baby in the oven kicked me harder than a bloke on the footy field"....too funny! It may be a bit silly, but I think God can speak to us in different ways, and sometimes he speaks to us exactly how we understand, culture, accents, and all!
