The morning after Matt and I got engaged, we celebrated by calling our parents, siblings, and grandmothers. I am so grateful that I was able to share with my grandma my good news before her passing, what a blessing. Then that day, Matt, myself, and his parents went to a lovely place called Kuranda. It is a village just outside of Cairns. You get there by taking a skyrail up the mountain to the rainforest-like area. They have boardwalks up there where you walk between majestic trees, overlooking the canyon below. We had great views of Barron Falls. It was quite stunning. Then we spent a few hours in the little town. Mostly we enjoyed the food, not as much the shopping in the trinket shops, but still interesting to look around. Then we had a very enjoyable trip back down the mountain, on the scenic railway. It was built with sweat and tears before the war. It was quite an interesting ride and such lovely views of Cairns. We had a really nice day.
